Japan became the fifty-first state of the USA and the Americans turned it into a territory under their military and political control. According to current laws, Neon Island, which is located right in Japanese waters, has the right to practice gambling and prostitution, thus attracting a large number of tourists and criminals. Having become more popular than Las Vegas, Neon soon transformed into an island marked by feuds for control of casinos and pleasure houses, where the Italian mafia, the Chinese triad and the yakuza constantly clash. In this science fiction "gangster movie" scenario, the plot of Black Joke develops, the latest work by Masayuki "Battle Royale" Taguchi, which this time is dedicated to the criminal world of "those good guys" who, with kung fu (but always in a suit and tie!) massacre themselves to command the city of sin of a futuristic, cold and cynical Japan. Sex, money, weapons and lots of violence… martial arts fighters, gangsters of the future, champagne and beautiful women.

Secondo le leggi vigenti l’isola di Neon, che si trova proprio nelle acque giapponesi, ha il diritto di esercitare il gioco d’azzardo e la prostituzione, attirando così un gran numero di turisti e di malavitosi. Divenuta più popolare di Las Vegas, Neon si è presto trasformata in un’isola segnata dalle faide per il controllo dei casinò e delle case di piacere, dove mafia italiana, triade cinese e yakuza si scontrano continuamente. In questo scenario da “gangster movie” fantascientifico si sviluppa la trama di Black Joke, ultima opera di Masayuki “Battle Royale” Taguchi, che questa volta è dedicata al mondo criminale di “quei bravi ragazzi” che, a colpi di kung fu (ma sempre in giacca e cravatta!) si massacrano per comandare la città del peccato di un Giappone futuristico, freddo e cinico. Sesso, soldi, armi e tanta violenza… lottatori di arti marziali, gangster del futuro, champagne e belle donne.
