Subito dopo la fine del torneo, Crilin viene ucciso da Tamburello una creatura generata dal Grande Mago Piccolo. Il mago, rinchiuso da moltissimo tempo in un thermos, è stato liberato da Pilaf. Goku si lancia all'inseguimento del mostro ma, a causa della fame e della stanchezza dovuta al torneo, viene facilmente sconfitto, precipitando in una foresta. Successivamente Goku conosce Yajirobei, un rozzo e grasso samurai con cui ingaggia un combattimento, venendo però interrotto dall'arrivo di Cembalo, che viene ucciso e mangiato dallo spadaccino. Poco dopo Tamburello, venuto a conoscenza della morte di Cembalo, giunge sul luogo, ma viene facilmente ucciso da Goku. Il Grande Mago Piccolo decide di recarsi di persona sul luogo, dove affronta e sconfigge con estrema facilità il giovane guerriero.
