A high school student named Gen lives on the peaceful island of Tsushima, together with his mother and sick sister. Everything changes completely when one day the island is attacked by creatures that suddenly appear, which devour every other form of life and assimilate it, giving life to grotesque conglomerates of bodies. The army is unable to counter the threat and Tsushima is abandoned and made a forbidden zone. On the island, Gen survives together with a few others for a year, but following a close encounter with the alien species he ends up adrift at sea. In the rest of the world, special units are trying to contain the crisis, but they are slowly getting the worst of it and more and more areas of the planet are being quarantined. If humanity fails to find a solution, its days may be numbered...

Sulla pacifica isola di Tsushima vive un liceale di nome Gen, assieme alla madre e alla sorella malata. Tutto cambia completamente quando un giorno l’isola viene attaccata da creature apparse improvvisamente, che divorano ogni altra forma di vita e la assimilano, dando vita a grotteschi conglomerati di corpi.
