Japan, early 1980s. One evening, Satoru's father returns home with incredible news which however does not fail to cause concern: a robot will be installed in the factory where he works! On the occasion of a guided tour of the elementary school, Satoru has the opportunity to satisfy his overflowing curiosity and see this new technical discovery with his own eyes. On the same occasion he meets Marin, a girl his age, and something immediately strikes between the two. Meeting secretly inside the factory, the children begin to play with the robot, while in the machine, thanks to the interaction with the pure and naive feelings of childhood, a sort of rudimentary self-awareness begins to germinate... Thanks to the miraculous intervention of Shingo, Marin managed to escape from Robin's clutches. Shingo's constant evolution has led him in the meantime to a completely different stage of "consciousness", but having reached a turning point, in an attempt not to forget the experiences he has accumulated, the robot desperately searches for an old friend who, perhaps, will be able to help him bring Marin's message back to his father Satoru... Will he succeed? Shingo's incredible story is about to end.

Giappone, primi anni '80. Una sera, il padre di Satoru torna a casa con una notizia incredibile che però non manca di destare preoccupazione: nella fabbrica dove lavora verrà installato un robot! In occasione di una visita guidata delle scuole elementari, Satoru ha l'opportunità di soddisfare la sua traboccante curiosità e vedere coi suoi occhi quel nuovo ritrovato della tecnica. Nella stessa occasione conosce Marin, una ragazzina sua coetanea, e tra i due scocca subito qualcosa. Rincontrandosi di nascosto all'interno della fabbrica, i bambini iniziano a giocare con il robot, mentre nella macchina, grazie all'interazione con i sentimenti puri e ingenui dell'infanzia, comincia a germogliare una sorta di rudimentale autocoscienza… Grazie all'intervento miracoloso di Shingo, Marin è riuscita a fuggire dalle grinfie di Robin. La costante evoluzione di Shingo l'ha portato nel frattempo a uno stadio completamente diverso di "coscienza", ma giunto a un punto di svolta, nel tentativo di non dimenticare le esperienze che ha accumulato, il robot si mette alla disperata ricerca di una vecchia amica che, forse, potrà aiutarlo a riportare a suo padre Satoru il messaggio di Marin… Riuscirà nell'impresa? L'incredibile vicenda di Shingo si sta per concludere.
