After leaving his job in Tokyo, twenty-five-year-old Mitsuomi Kozuka returns to his hometown located in a rural area where life has always flowed slowly and monotonously. Starting over, however, is not easy. The young man thinks he can inherit his father's job, a furniture craftsman, but the tense relationship between the two doesn't make things easy. After ten years of absence, the only new thing he finds is Yamato Kumai, the adopted son of an old farmer. The two become friends and Kozuka begins working as a seasonal helper on their plantation. A relationship that will grow over time and that will see Mitsuomi fall in love with him, while Yamato's weaknesses linked to his origins will gradually emerge.

Dopo aver lasciato il suo lavoro a Tokyo, il venticinquenne Mitsuomi Kozuka fa ritorno al suo paese natale situato in una zona rurale dove la vita scorre da sempre lenta e monotona. Ricominciare però non è semplice. Il giovane pensa di poter ereditare il lavoro del padre, un artigiano di mobili, ma il rapporto teso tra i due non rende le cose facili. Dopo dieci anni di assenza, l’unica novità che trova è Yamato Kumai, figlio adottivo di un vecchio fattore. I due fanno amicizia e Kozuka comincia a lavorare come aiutante stagionale nella loro piantagione. Un rapporto che andrà crescendo con il tempo e che vedrà Mitsuomi innamorarsi di lui, mentre pian piano emergeranno le debolezze di Yamato legate alle proprie origini.
